Immersive Technologies extends its long-standing relationship with Caterpillar® for Simulation

Immersive Technologies and Caterpillar Inc. have signed the renewal of a global Technical Information and Licensing Agreement for the development of advanced equipment training simulators. The scope of this agreement sees Caterpillar continue to exclusively provide Immersive Technologies with confi dential machine technical information and data that is necessary to simulate Caterpillar machinery. This proprietary information is not available or accessible to any other advanced simulator vendor.

Hitachi EX5500 Shovel/Excavator Training Simulator
Vale makes major investment in simulation training
30 April 2009

Brazilian mining heavyweight Vale has underlined its commitment to recruiting and training local people at its major new Moatize coal project in Mozambique with a significant investment in advanced equipment simulator technology. Immersive Technologies is supplying Vale with three Advanced Equipment (AE) Simulators, which are expected to be commissioned on site at the end of May 2009. The training simulators will support the Caterpillar 793D haul truck, Caterpillar 992G wheel loader, and Hitachi EX5500 shovel/excavator. Immersive Technologies is also supplying a Custom Mine Site, which accurately replicates the Moatize mine to enhance the realism and value of the training.

Privately-owned mining contractor Doug Hood Mining Limited has chosen Immersive Technologies to supply a range of Advanced Equipment (AE) Simulators as part of a business improvement strategy that will see the simulators used to improve training, safety, drive reductions in unscheduled maintenance and extend tire life. The decision to purchase the two base simulators, three simulator modules (Caterpillar 777D Truck, Hitachi Excavator and Light Vehicle) and two comprehensive training packages followed a thorough examination of the technology which has been proven to reduce training times and cost, while improving operator safety and productivity.
