Rio Tinto (Iron Ore operations) increases their fleet of Advanced Equipment Simulators from Immersive Technologies

25 February, 2012

Rio Tinto has purchased three additional Immersive Technologies PRO3 Advanced Equipment Simulators for their Marandoo, Hope Downs 4 and Greater Brockman Iron Ore operations. These simulators join the three existing Immersive simulators in their fleet.

Immersive Technologies has been a supplier to Rio Tinto (Iron Ore operations) for six years and these recent orders have been secured on the back of the results Rio Tinto has achieved from the existing simulator assets supplied by Immersive Technologies.

The order includes PRO3 transportable simulators and modular equipment units (Conversion Kits®) to support the training of Komatsu 730E, Komatsu 830E and Caterpillar 793F haul trucks, Hitachi excavators and shovels, Caterpillar D11T track dozers, Komatsu WA1200 wheel loaders and light vehicles.

The equipment is supported by a comprehensive five-year support package, customised virtual training environments (Custom Mine Sites), training curriculum development and associated curriculum maintenance.

Immersive Technologies' Regional Manager David Anderson said, "This investment in Immersive Technologies training solutions will assist Rio Tinto Iron Ore to maximise training efficiency and operator productivity and safety as they expand their operations.

Anderson continued, "Our exclusive alliances with Komatsu, Hitachi and Caterpillar provides our customers with the most accurate and reliable simulators in the industry."

The PRO3 simulators and related equipment modules are currently in production and will arrive on site early in 2012.
