Immersive Technologies has further expanded its extensive product range and strengthened its relationship with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Liebherr, through the release of the R996 Excavator simulator.
The release of this simulation product addresses specific needs of mine sites using larger excavators, particularly in Indonesia and the east coast of Australia.
The simulator accurately replicates relevant operational controls and dynamics of the 650 tonne Liebherr excavator, and offers a safe and conducive learning environment for new and experienced operators in the mining industry.
The high degree of functional accuracy within this simulator module is made possible by the exclusive alliance between Immersive Technologies and Liebherr. Signed in 2004, this alliance allows Immersive Technologies access to confidential machine technical information relating to the original Liebherr R996 Excavator ensuring the Immersive Technologies product is the only Simulator in the market which is virtually identical to the real product.
Immersive Technologies’ use of real cab controls and instrumentation fundamentally assists the training and learning retention of the operator – it allows trainers to trigger a range of emergency events and environmental conditions to thoroughly test the trainee’s knowledge and ability to cope with a multitude of situations before they are placed on-site in the Liebherr R996 Excavator.
Visiting from the Liebherr France SAS, Operator Trainer Roland Introia ( Mining Division) at ‘Liebherr France said, “The simulator was very realistic, and it felt like I was in the actual excavator. The different views were highly effective, and I regard this as an incredibly impressive training tool for mine sites.”
The R996 excavator simulator follows the successful release of the Liebherr T282B truck simulator, released by Immersive Technologies in 2007.
Oye Obe, Executive Vice President Business Development at Immersive Technologies says: “This latest simulator release is another great example of leading suppliers to the mining industry working closely together to improve the safety and productivity of operations worldwide. We are very proud of the value created for our customers through the exclusive alliance with Liebherr.”
The Simulator based on the Liebherr R996 Excavator allows accurate training and up-skilling of operators in a safe environment, coupled with the high quality simulation for which Immersive Technologies is renowned.
