First Simulator User Group meeting a major success

May 10th 2004

Immersive Technologies’ first Simulator User Group meeting was a major success. Held at Kennecott Copper’s mine site in Salt Lake City Utah, USA, in early May this year the three day event attracted leading mining companies and equipment manufacturers from the USA and Canada.

Presentations from Immersive Technologies staff included – new product demonstrations, troubleshooting and upcoming features. Delegates from Kennecott Copper, Kennecott Energy, Caterpillar, Phelps Dodge and others also presented topics on how they are currently applying Advanced Equipment Simulators to operator training and the benefits being derived.

Our objectives for the event included -

  1. Provide useful information on a number of topics to our customers.
  2. Provide a forum where customers can offer direct feedback to Immersive Technologies’ senior management who will shape future development.
  3. Provide a forum where Simulator users can share ideas and experiences with their peers and hopefully see these relationships continue on after this event.

Customer feedback to the event has been very positive –

"Definitely an asset to optimize the use of the investment in this new technology. It was very timely for Phelps Dodge as we are owners of four new Simulators at our mining sites."
James Armbrust, Phelps Dodge Mining Company

"This was a very useful, informative event that handed you the power to mold the Immersive Technologies’ Simulator into a more productive tool. It is also a great chance to have direct input to help Immersive Technologies understand and adjust the way they support their product---and as we all know Support is everything."
Chris Chrestensen, Cortez Gold Mines

"A rare opportunity to discuss with actual users how they train with the simulator and to discuss what can be done to improve the functionality of the simulator. It is also a great help to be able to discuss in person, with Immersive Technologies, what we users would like to see in future versions with regard to software and new hardware modules."
Gary Olson, Kennecott Utah Copper

"The User’s Group allowed us to develop networking relationships with other users, try out new hardware, tackle software issues and bring concerns to the table for discussion."
Sharla Douglas, Kennecott Energy

"Do not miss out on the opportunity to attend."
Robert Svara, Kennecott Energy

The Simulators we make are certainly having a major impact on how productive and safe these mines are. Immersive Technologies has changed operator training and testing in the mining industry forever.

Following on from the success of the first, an event will be held in Australia for Customers in this region of the world later this year.
